The Hat

For the uninitiated, think of The Hat as an iconic Los Angeles fast-food institution, on par with the likes of Tommy's or Pink's. Founded in 1951, The Hat specializes in pastrami sandwiches--the pastrami dip--and to a lesser extent, chili dogs, and burgers. The chain stands out for their generous portions and high-quality Ingredients.  Its customers consume 13 to 15.

In 1965, future owners Joseph and Corky would eat at The Hat in High School
where they met their future wives.

The Hat held a special place in their hearts, and in 1981, when Corky heard that the store was marked for demolition, he bought the place with his brother Joseph.

2009 co-owner Corky Conzonire was Named president of the 12oth Rose Parade naming the event ‘Hats’ Off to entertainment!

The pastrami dip sandwich is the restaurant's signature item. It comes on a French roll with mustard and pickle. The restaurant also serves burgers, dogs, sandwiches, onion rings, fries and chili cheese fries. The Hat may have been one of the first places to feature the pastrami burger. The Hat offers no table service, so all of the items are wrapped to go, but paper plates are given to customers who wish to "dine in."
