December - Glacier Lodge

I was bouncing around Big Pine looking for scenes to take pictures of.  I noticed a road that seemed to go from the dry valley up into the snow.  I took the road up, and up, and up.  It seemed to work its way up the mountain forever.  Eventually I came to the snow level.  It was spring so the road was still open.

I realized we had been on this road before but in late summer.  It looked so different with snow that I did not realize I had been here before until I was halfway up.

The end of the road was nothing but spectacular.  Where I parked you could not get a clear view of the canyon to see the mountains.  I started walking down this snow filled side road to see if I could get a better view.  That is when I realized I was on the Glacier Lodge grounds.  There were scattered buildings and this cute little frozen pond.   The pond provided enough of a clearing that you could see over the trees to the mountains at the back of the canyon.

It was a breath-taking scene.  So much so I lingered for a while after I had taken my pictures.

Well, that is it.  Another year in the books (or calendar.)  Telling each month’s image’s story is something new I am trying.  Did it add value to the calendar?  It would be great to hear what you thought.

See you in 2027!
