August - Bridgeport Horses

I had seen an Instagram from the Mono County Tourist folks showing the wild Irises were blooming at Bridgeport. I decided to take the pups and head on up to check it out.

Sometimes you just get lucky.  While there are usually horses on the ranches driving from Hwy 395 to Twin Lakes in Bridgeport they are usually off in the distance.  This day I got triple lucky.

Not only were the horses close to the road, but there was also a small creek reflecting the mountains, and the horses were active.  I got this wonderful image plus some nice videos of the horses running around interacting with each other.

There is a funny story from a previous time I took pictures of the horses here.  I have a great shot of a beautiful horse in a full gallop jumping over one of these little creeks.  When I looked at the series of pictures I took of this horse, the frame before the money shot was of his tail raised taking a dump!

As promised by Mono Tourism, there were blooming wild Irises.  I have not had a chance to process those images yet, but I am optimistic for them.  I also wanted to see if I could get a good image of the Horse Creek waterfall that is near the Mono Village campground.

My pups were super excited as they got out of the car at the campground.

There must have been so many enticing smells.  I thought they were going to burst from excitement.  Their noses were going in this direction, then that direction.  Luna has not pulled that hard on her leash in while as she did here.  They wanted to go here, then there.  Tioga, who is a bit dog aggressive, even ignored a couple small dogs barking at us.  The smells were just too enticing!

We never made it to the falls; they were just too excited to walk any length, also carrying camera gear!

You must call it a good day when you get pictures of horses up close, wild Irises with snowy mountains in the background, and your pups have an awesome sniffing day!
